SPEEDORANGE® Induction Bolt Heating: How it works.
SPEEDORANGE® is an advanced technology induction bolt heating system for a safer, faster, more efficient way to elongate bolts. Through it's highly sophisticated electronic components, SPEEDORANGE® allows a controlled bolt heating method. It is specially designed to remove bolts from turbine casings ranging in size from 1" to 16" in diameter.
Induction heating occurs when a material capable of conducting electrical current, not necessarily ferrous or magnetic, is placed in a varying magnetic field. The material becomes heated as a result of hysteresis and eddy current losses. Hysteresis occurs with magnetic materials, such as A193-B7 and B16 bolting, and is produced by retardation of the magnetization effect caused by the friction of the molecules, when the material is magnetized in one direction, then reversed at a very high frequency.
While hysteresis losses occur only in magnetic material to some degree, eddy current losses occur in any conductive material. This effect enables induction heating to be used with non-magnetic and slightly magnetic materials, such as 422 Stainless Steels, commonly used for internal components for high temperature inner turbine casings and bolting. Eddy currents are electrical currents induced by an alternating magnetic field. Simply stated, the induction heating coil acts as a primary side of a transformer and the bolt acts as a secondary side, with the eddy currents flowing around within the mass of the bolt. Heating of the bolt occurs according to simple electrical principles. Because of relatively high power consumption by the current depth of penetration, heat cannot be dissipated rapidly, and the bolt thermally expands axially, thereby relieving pre-load stresses. The rapid heating process occurs from the stud hole out into the bolt with the heating area controlled by coil design, ideally concentrating thermal expansion in the bolt shank or mid-section area of the stud away from the threaded ends.
SPEEDORANGE® outperforms any other bolt heating systems in the world due to a patent-pending technology. The patent-pending inductor makes electrical rods and extreme bolt heating methods obsolete. Onpaper it's impressive; on the field it simply dominates the bolt heating services market.
Brief Overview
SPEEDORANGE® has the greatest range in sizes for any application.
The best inductor rod size is chosen for the optimum heating range at the center of the stud.
No damage to the metal. SPEEDORANGE® induction bolt heating heats the core of the bolt at the optimal temperature and ideal speed.
SPEEDORANGE® controlled heating method heats only the center of stud. It is safe for the surrounding metal.
Faster, Safer & more Efficient than current bolt heating methods available.
In a short period of time the stud is heated properly and assembly/disassembly can begin.

SPEEDORANGE® Designed to connect to any power source for true worldwide service availability.
Most of our competitors ask the customer to install a 100 amperage line plus a water line to run their bolt heating system. By experience, SPEEDORANGE® engineers know how expensive and time consuming this could be which is why we designed the system to be adaptable ANY WHERE IN THE WORLD. With an adaptable power source requirement (from 380, 400, 440, 460, 480 or 500V), amperage requirement (32, 64, or 100 amps) and a built-in water tank, our technicians can start working within minutes. Each machine carries 90ft. long electrical power connection and pigtail to adapt to the customer's plug design. This feature allows for immediate servicing. NO MORE WASTED TIME AND MONEY.
SPEEDORANGE® Smart and powerful bolt heating machine that is metallurgical friendly.
Electrical Resistance bolt heating or torch bolt heating can boast speed, but that is not the only factor engineers consider for assembly and disassembly. Uncontrolled heating can damage the bolt, adding undesirable costs. SPEEDORANGE® is metallurgical friendly due to its controlled heating design. The stud temperature never exceeds 670° F. For most applications, the required temperature is only about 320°F. Additionally SPEEDORANGE® technicians can accurately regulate the temperature within +/- 20°.
SPEEDORANGE® induction bolt heating has a built-in 15-gallon water tank- doesn't depend on external water connection.
SPEEDORANGE® engineers opt for a self-contained design. NO EXTERNAL WATER SUPPLY NEEDED. The closed loop water system used in our induction bolt heating system shows our passion for a faster turnaround time for our customers. This allows the SPEEDORANGE® team to setup quickly, and avoids the need for the power plant team to install two water lines per machine (as in other systems). The water is unable to exceed 100°F due to its very powerful, built-in cooling system (which features a highly-effective plate heat exchanger).
SPEEDORANGE™ bolt heating system can adapt to all major electrical connectionsno matter the voltage and the amperage.
